Sachsenhausen

While different cultures of the world were celebrating the Olympics of 1936, the  concetration camp „Sachsenhausen“ was being built up not too far away from the Olympic Stadium. While the concentration camp was primarily built to lock up enemies of the Nazis, it ended up serving as a model for other concentration camps. Thousands of people lost their lives in this camp. The prisoners daily life and the daily terror are well documented and one can view the remaining barracks, the roll call plaza and the cynically named execution station „Z“.
